In der Afro-Jazz Gruppe „Mamadou Diabate & Bekadiya",
die 2002 gegründet & 2008 neu formatiert wurde, begeben sich afrikanische und europäische Musiker
auf eine gemeinsame Reise. Die scheinbar so gegensätzlichen Musikstile dieser beiden Kontinente
- Jazz & traditionelle westafrikanische Musik - treffen hier in kunstvoller Weise aufeinander und
zeigen wie harmonisch und gleichzeitig kraftvoll diese Welten miteinander verwoben werden können,
wie sie sich gegenseitig ergänzen und mit Leichtigkeit und Spielfreude kulturelle Grenzen überwinden.
Den Beweis dafür lieferte die Gruppe 2003 mit der CD "Sira Fila".
Was die Zuhörerinnen und Zuhörer gleich nach den ersten Tönen in westafrikanische Sphären entführt,
ist nach wie vor das reich verzierte Balafon- (Xylophon) Solo, das noch dazu, zu sprechen scheint.
Die Melodie des Balafons wird von jazzigen Harmonien und kraftvollen Grooves untermalt.
In der neuen Formation haben die Blechbläser mit ihren virtuosen Linien eine viel größere Rolle als zuvor,
außerdem interagieren sie in ungewohnter Form mit der ausdrucksstarken Stimme der afrikanischen Sängerin.
In the Afro-jazz group "Mamadou Diabate & Bekadiya",
founded in 2002 and re-formed in 2008, African and European musicians go on a common journey.
The apparently conflicting musical styles of these two continents - jazz and traditional West African
music - meet here in artful fashion and show how harmonious and powerful these worlds are intertwined.
They complement each other and together they overcome cultural boundaries with ease and joy.
They demonstrated this impressively in 2003 with the CD "Sira Fila".
What the audience immediately introduces into West African Spheres, is still the rich ornamented virtuous
balafon (xylophone) solo, which seems to be talking.
This impressive balafon music is accompanied by jazzy harmonies and powerful grooves.
In the new formation of Bekadiya, the brass with its virtuosic lines is much more important than before.
Moreover they interact in an unusual way with the expressive voice of the African singer.
La «Sainte Trinité» (mélodie, harmonie et rythme) de la musique européenne
n’accorde qu’un rôle modeste au rythme. Sans aucun doute la
«découverte» et l’intégration de la musique africaine est d’un apport
grandement enrichissant, toutefois dans la majeure partie des groupes
afro-européens la responsabilité des africains se limite au rythme
alors que les autres s’occupent de la mélodie et de l’harmonie. Pour
notre groupe «Bekadiya» c’est différent.
